Clinic release new single “Energies” from their upcoming album

Clinic have released ‘Energies’, a new single from their tenth album Wild In The Streets, which is scheduled for release on 30th October. The band have also made a visualiser available for the track.

‘Energies’ is described as building from a blues riff into a funk sound, moving closer to dance music than previous Clinic material. Ade Blackburn states that ‘Energies’ has “a late night party feel, a fun-filled combination of Funkadelic, Carl Douglas and Cabaret Voltaire.”

Wild In The Streets features twelve songs and is described as reflecting the current national mood with urgency, surreal wordplay, and wit. The album is available to pre-order on DomMart-exclusive blue vinyl with an art print, as well as standard vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

The Liverpool duo, comprising Blackburn and Jonathan Hartley, have been working together for nearly 30 years. Blackburn comments on their collaboration, stating, “We’ve known each other since school. Hartley was always interested in electronics and drum machines, even as a teenager. He’s into rhythms, whether it’s reggae and funk or more conventional guitar music, whereas I was always into songs and melodies. I think that’s why Clinic works so well.”

Blackburn adds, “We’ve always had this absolute faith in what we do. It’s relatively outsider-ish music, but that’s something that’s motivated us to keep going, because it’s good to have things that are a little out on the fringes. There’s just not enough of that kind of music these days.”

Wild In The Streets follows previous Clinic albums such as 2000’s Internal Wrangler, 2006’s Visitations, and 2012’s Free Reign.

Wild In The Streets can be pre-ordered via DomMart or Domino.
