BLACK VEIL BRIDES are all set to release their seventh studio album, titled VINDICATE, which will be available worldwide from May 8th 2026 via Spinefarm. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of VINDICATE, having closely followed what has been a drip-feeding of epic and cinematic singles, all accompanied by equally powerful and avant-garde music videos. The singles so far have touched upon themes of spirituality, misplaced faith, revenge and eventual vindication; all coming together as an intense and theatrical journey on the finished album, which I’ve been lucky enough to preview in full.

The immediate strength I found in this album was the way that the promised theatricality shifts in presentation constantly throughout the album, from the organ-backed dramatic soliloquy of “Invocation To The Muse” all the way to the emotive final crescendo that is “Eschaton”. In VINDICATE, frontman Andy Biersack, guitarists Jake Pitts and Jinxx, bassist Lonny Eagleton and drummer Christian Coma aka CC, have delivered a surprising yet mature evolution; meditations on spirituality and morality combine with gothic artistry and intensity to create a truly intense emotional experience.

I have to admit that I’ve never struggled so much to identify my highlight and standout songs for an album as I did with VINDICATE which, to me,is pretty much a non-skip album. I have to apologise then for going a bit too deep into the track list, but that should highlight just how strong I found this album to be!

My first highlight track has got to be ‘Vindicate’; the second song on the album and the album title track. The reason this is my top highlight is simply because when the single was first released it got stuck in my mind constantly and I just couldn’t get it out of my head – a sure sign of strong songwriting and the connection I made immediately with the music. The second highlight is ‘Certainty’, which I found to be another addictive track. I also found it interesting to note that all the songs to be released as singles in advance of the album are all positioned together on the album. Both of these tracks really bring that cinematic atmosphere and aura of villainy that I touched upon earlier, as well as the right level of catchiness to lure the listener in.

My third highlight is the Sweeney Todd inspired ‘Bleeders’, which was released as a single all the way back in September 2024. Being a huge Tim Burton and Sweeney Todd fan I may be a little biased but, nonetheless, I was absolutely hooked on both this song and the music video from the moment they released. Both were composed beautifully and did justice to the movie. My fourth highlight track is ‘Hallelujah’; once again, the song and music video were both impactful and meaningful from start to finish, offering an intense reflection on spirituality. For me, listening to ‘Hallelujah’ conjures up an image of a battle Royale between angels and demons, something akin to the painting The Fall Of The Rebel Angels by the Flemish renaissance artist Pieter Bruegel The Elder; it’s a wonderful metaphor for the battles we all have to fight, with some of the toughest being the ones we fight with ourselves internally.

I do need to put a short focus on a few more tracks too, as there’s some real points of note across the rest of the album. New track ‘Alive’ is another catchy one, with some trademark BLACK VEIL BRIDES growls and screams; just a pretty kick-ass song in general. ‘Revenger’ features Robb Flynn from Machine Head; it’s lyrically intense and gives off a dark anti-hero kind of feeling – Batman or Punisher perhaps, and we know just how much Biersack loves his comic book heroes! ‘Ave Maria’ goes so heavy with full screams and hard drums and string work, I couldn’t help but pull a face and bang my head along to it. Finally, ’Woe & Pain’ was featured in WrestleMania 42 just a few weeks ago, which makes perfect sense as it’s full of power and chaos with out of this world roars and screams.

All things considered, I found VINDICATE to be an outstanding album which lives well up to my hopes as I’m sure it will for other fans. What really makes this album stand out is it being clear that the band had full creative control to make their vision a reality. This is something that I wish we could see more regularly, because as a listener it means so much to really connect with the passion and message that the artist is trying to convey. This album also comes across as a robust response from the band to some of the criticism that has been laid their way in the past, with VINDICATE being a real statement of just who Black Veil Brides want to be. I think this latest chapter in the Black Veil Brides story is one to be seriously excited about – they’re showing the world their true credentials and show no signs of backing down. Black Veil Brides will also be performing at this year’s Download Festival, where I can’t wait to hear some of the new material on the live stage!
