Alvar Dabriel, a Madrid-born, London-based singer and guitarist, has released his debut single, ‘Truth or Hell’. The track is out now via AWAL / Sony Music.
Several established musicians feature on the recording. Keith Carlock, drummer with Toto, plays on the track, alongside bassist Tim Lefebvre, whose credits include David Bowie‘s final studio album, Blackstar. The mix comes from Tom Lord-Alge, whose credits include The Rolling Stones.
According to the release, ‘Truth or Hell’ takes a cinematic approach to rock, combining guitar-driven melodies with large-scale instrumentation. It aims to balance the raw intensity of rock with a sweeping sound and a contemporary edge.
Lyrically, the song explores freedom, resilience and the courage to confront uncomfortable truths. It comes from moments of personal transformation and rebirth, and examines the idea that genuine liberation can only come through complete honesty, both with ourselves and with those around us.
Alvar Dabriel draws on his roots in Madrid and his life in London. He takes the scale and drama of classic rock and gives it a contemporary approach.
