A Killer’s Confession (Ex Mushroomhead) release new single ‘Meat Hook’ ahead of Victim 3

A Killer’s Confession, the alt-metal band fronted by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, have released a new single, ‘Meat Hook’. It comes from their sixth studio album, Victim 3, which is due on 13th November via MNRK Heavy.

The song is built on heavy riffs, steady grooves and Reavis’ vocals. Its subject is self-acceptance, including the darker sides of human nature. The track looks at the freedom that comes from recognising your true identity and embracing both the good and the bad, rather than living up to other people’s expectations.

Reavis says: “‘Meat Hook’ is possibly my favorite song on the album. It is a confrontational anthem. It is finding acceptance on who you truly are good or bad and living up to it. Know thy self only then will you be truly free.”

‘Meat Hook’ follows the recent single ‘Roses’, which examines the futility of seeking validation from others, and the band’s reinterpretation of The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’.

Victim 3 concludes a three-part conceptual story that began with Victim 1 and Victim 2. The album follows a vigilante serial killer whose pursuit of justice has turned into violence and self-destruction. It ends with him facing his own actions as he awaits execution on death row.

The album was recorded in Nashville and Denver. According to the release, Waylon Reavis, Evan McKeever and Dusty Boles expand the band’s sound with heavy riffs, melodies and atmospheric textures, taking a darker and more cinematic approach to songwriting.

The band will tour North America this fall on the Everything Comes Full Circle Tour, with Dizasterpiece and Dead Things.

The band are online on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
