The Edge said: “We can’t say too much about the next leg of The Greatest Show On Earth – we’re still figuring it out – but what we can say is, we’ll be wrapping it up in Ireland. There’s nowhere else we’d want to be for that party.”

Carnaval De Luz is the band’s sixteenth studio album and their first new material in nine years. It comes out on 13 November 2026 on Island Records. A new track, ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’, is out now. U2 and Brian Eno co-wrote it, and it is the third single from the album. The video is directed by Anton Corbijn and was shot in the Californian desert. It satirises the band as a religious cult where women do all the heavy lifting.

Jacknife Lee produced the 12-song album, which explores spirituality, friendship, freedom and endurance. Earlier singles are ‘Street of Dreams’ and ‘Silencio’. The album follows the EPs Days of Ash and Easter Lily, released earlier in 2026.

The final track, ‘Torn’, is a duet between Bono and Dolly Parton, co-written by U2, Parton and Johnny McDaid. Daniel Lanois plays pedal steel on it. Brian Eno co-writes and plays synthesizers on ‘Go (Carnaval De Luz)’, ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ and ‘Can’t Stop Us Now’. Martin Garrix co-writes ‘Glorify’, and Ryan Tedder provides additional production on ‘Silencio’.
