Bedford alt-rock lads Don Broco have just released, through Fearless Records, what could well be the best and most anarchic album of their careers so far, with eleven tracks of pure chaos on the brand new Nightmare Tripping. I couldn’t wait to get stuck into this album and be taken back to the bouncing Broco main-stage pit of 2025’s Download Festival!

The musical evolution that the band has been on in recent years is absolutely incredible, and following the band’s growth and shifting styles has been one hell of a ride so far. The Bedford rockers have stomped their way into even greater horizons with Nightmare Tripping; the relentless energy and adrenaline that’s gone into this album shows that there really is no limit to the loco with Don Broco. Broco have leant towards their own brand of a nu-metal sound on much of this album; there’s some pretty heavy hints of Limp Bizkit and even Korn on the first half of the album especially, with other tracks picking back up on fan favourite styles from earlier work.

My first highlight track from Nightmare Tripping has got to be ‘Cellophane’; it’s a brilliant album opener and not to mention that it was the first single from the album to be released to an absolutely outstanding reception from fans. It’s become a staple of live shows since and I personally had it on repeat throughout my playlists for weeks when it first came out. It’s the utterly chaotic atmosphere to ‘Cellophane’ that got me hooked, which transfers nicely onto my second highlight track, ‘Nightmare Tripping’. This is a really special track on this album as it was born from one of the most surprising collaborations rock music has ever seen, with Don Broco working alongside the one and only Nickelback. This track gives me vibes of Nightmares On Elm Street, so as a serious horror fan I was always going to love it.

I also absolutely love how, in the middle of all this madness, Don Broco has chucked in a slow ballad in the mix with ‘Ghost In The Dark’. It’s beautifully composed and it reminds me of something that pop-punk / alt-rock bands in the early 2000’s would do; this track leads straight back into unbridled energy though with ‘True Believers’, featuring Sam Carter from UK metalcore giants Architects

My third highlight track has to be ‘Pacify Me’, simply because the roars in this track are absolutely sublime! I think they have to be the loudest roars I’ve heard from Don Broco so far, and they really do symbolise this latest chapter for the band. I’ll throw in one extra highlight track, just because I loved this album so much – I’m choosing a track that’s an atmospheric mix of rock and dance titled ‘Swimming Pools’. This track has the power and feeling behind it to easily be the next single, serving as another reminder of the noise, adrenaline and anarchy that Don Broco bring to the party. It’s just a whole vibe and you really have to be there for it.

All in all, Nightmare Tripping everything a Don Broco album shout be: downright bonkers and attention dominating, with all the catchy, heavy riffs and powerful vocals fans have come to love. I love how Don Broco are unashamedly themselves and will continue to be; they’re relentlessly telling their story in their way and we’re just invited along for the ride. It’s brilliant to see continued evolution in Don Broco’s sound and I personally cannot wait to see what else the guys have to give out in the future.

Don Broco are: Rob Damiani (vocals/electronics), Simon Delaney (guitar), Matt Donnelly (drums/vocals) and Tom Doyle (bass/programming).
