York-born singer-songwriter Beth McCarthy has sold out her underplay show at The Black Heart in London on 19 November 2026. The show sold out less than an hour after tickets went on sale.
The gig comes one day before the release of her new EP, The Origin Story of a Pretty Villain, on 20 November 2026. You can pre-save the EP here. The show will give fans a first listen to the new material.
The four-track EP follows the transformation and rise of McCarthy‘s villain alter ego, the Pretty Villain. It explores how a relationship can create a monster. It opens with an introduction to the character, titled ‘Pretty Villain’, before taking the listener back to the time before she was evil and telling the story of what made her that way.
Her latest track, ‘The Love After The Love Of Your Life’, has had clips viewed more than 3 million times on social media. It currently averages more than 20,000 daily streams. The track has also had support from Jodie Bryant on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop.
McCarthy said of the show: “SOLD OUT in less than an hour are you KIDDING ME? This show will be the first time the fans get to see Pretty Villain up close and in person. They got a glimpse of her on the main stage at Reading and Leeds but this one is special because it’s so intimate and I get to really dive into the story of the Pretty Villain and immerse everyone into her world! On the stage is where my heart and music comes to life and this show will be like nothing else I’ve ever done.”
The Pretty Villain alter ego was unveiled after a summer that included a main stage performance at Reading & Leeds Festival. It follows a sold-out show at Kentish Town Forum and a Glastonbury performance in 2025.
