Kami Kehoe releases her long-awaited version of Kings of Leon hit ‘Sex on Fire’ via Atlantic Records, Coup D’Etat Recordings and 10k Projects and produced by Curt Martin (Catch Your Breath, Arankai, ekoh). Fans have been begging for this song online since Kami Kehoe performed it on her recent arena tour supporting Seether and Daughtry, which saw her invited on stage with them at several stops, and amassed millions of views online from live clips.
Kami took to this track with her signature alternative rock sound but rearranged it to be centred around the heavy-hitting drums as opposed to the guitar-centred original, channelling the intense ache of Kings of Leon while making it her own. Kami perfectly harnessed the yearning conveyed throughout this rock anthem and turned it into a darker, more impactful bundle of emotions conveyed through the building vocals, heavy guitar riffs and layered backing vocals.
Kami‘s sultry vocals shine through at the forefront of this track, cutting through the heavy atmosphere created through a series of echoed backing vocals. Carving out time for a signature Kehoe breakdown towards the end with her distinctive glitchy vocals, intense percussion and slamming riffs which allows the lead vocals to powerfully cut back in even deeper. The effect created by the many vocal layers and whisper-like harmonies perfectly captures the whirlwind of emotions portrayed throughout the original hit song.
