You ever listen to something on a whim and it hits you right between the eyes? Post rock turns to slow shamanic doom, wails turn to whispers, distortion quiets into perfect cymbal hits. The body melts, the body sways, the body is no more. It’s unnerving, but never terrifying, keeping you just on the edge of fear, the edge of knowing just that little bit more about yourself.
This is BANK MYNA.
Their new live-session “Live at Beaux-Arts de Paris” takes you into the high-ceilinged Chapelle des Petits Augustins and onto a journey as mysterious as the artwork all around them and as high-reaching as the columns themselves. Dark and ritualistic, the tracks ‘No Ocean Of Thoughts’ and ‘The Shadowed Body’ blend obsidian-tinged post-rock with doom metal elements and delicate slowcore. These come off their 2025 second album Eimuria, made in collaboration with Medication Time Records, Araki Records, and Stellar Frequencies.
Directed by Maureen Piercy, and filmed by Emma Mari, Virgile Mollat and Maureen Piercy, the 20-minute set is now available as a CD and limited vinyl release on BANK MYNA’s Bandcamp.
