The energy at The Glass House in Pomona, CA, was electric on October 11, 2026. A line of fans formed long before the doors opened, many of them wearing T-shirts representing Soulfly, Nailbomb, and the Cavalera name. Inside, the standing-room-only venue was packed for what seemed like a metal family reunion, which was actually the case, with members of the iconic Cavalera family taking the stage in three different bands. I would love to know their secret as to how one family can possess so much energy and talent!
Beyond the Roots started the night with a half-hour set of pure Los Angeles thrash metal. The four-piece band was loud, fast, and hard to ignore. Vocalist and guitarist Natalie Nova commanded the stage and constantly interacted with her bandmates. The band debuted the new track, “Inception,” which energized the room and kept the crowd engaged.
Next up was Phoenix band Incite, who came in hot from the very first note. The band consists of frontman Richie Cavalera, bassist Christopher “EL” Elsten, drummer Derek “Lennon” Lopez, and guitarist Layne Richardson. Cavalera was a force of nature, tearing across the stage and firing up the crowd. The band’s deep, bass-heavy intro turned into rapid-fire thrash that immediately triggered a circle pit. With Cavalera singing directly to the fans and Richardson ripping through solos, the audience was fully hyped. By the third song, the crowd surfers started, feeding off the band’s infectious, metal-rap energy.
The energy continued when Nailbomb took the stage. Fronted by the legendary Max Cavalera (vocals, guitar) alongside his son Igor Amadeus Cavalera (vocals, guitar), Jackie Cruz (bass), Travis Stone (guitar), Adam Jarvis (drums), and Alex Cha (samples), the band delivered an insane, loud, and cool counterculture punk vibe. The set was hypnotic and heavy, and Max and Igor took turns at guttural vocals while visuals played on a giant screen behind them. A circle pit erupted immediately, and by the second song, the crowd surfing started up again.
The headliner, Soulfly, closed the night by tearing the roof off the venue. Max Cavalera returned to the stage, joined by his son Zyon on drums, guitarist Mike DeLeon, and bassist Chase Bryant. Their set was a master class in groove metal, starting with their signature jungle-tribal intro before launching into full-blown headbanging fury. The crowd lost its mind during “Prophecy,” singing along to the hard-driving rhythms.
The peak of the night came during the fan-favorite song “Bumba,” when part of the floor turned into a mosh pit, leading into an epic, stage-filled drum breakdown. Max checked in on the relentless crowd, asking if anyone was tired yet. The fans answered with a collective “No!” and formed an even bigger mosh pit. Things got crazy again with “Jumpdafuckup,” where the entire room crouched down low before jumping up. Soulfly finished the set with “Eye for an Eye,” leaving fans waving their arms and chanting “Olé, olé, olé, olé!” It was an unforgettable night that proved the Cavalera metal legacy is stronger than ever.
