Fresh off their recent performance at Incineration Festival, Carpathian Forest returned to London, this time alongside Black Altar and Svarttjern for a night of black metal at The Underworld.
Kicking off the evening, Svarttjern, with an impressive performance by its vocalist HansFyrste, brought blazing riffs, blast beats and doom to a very engaging audience that kept chanting “Hail Satan!” repeatedly after each song.
Next up, Black Altar, as their name suggests, transformed their stage into a ritualistic satanic altar. Wearing hoodies and masks, they adorned the stage with skulls, baphomet statues and candles. A very performative performance, playing the best of their classic black metal catalogue.
Finally, Carpathian Forest. As soon as they started playing the initial drums and riffs of “Vi Ã¥pner porten til helvete…”, The Underworld became a mosh pit. Nattefrost and his crew kept the audience engaged throughout their 19 track setlist, that even included covers from Turbonegro and The Cure. Wrapping up the set, the self-titled classic track “Carpathian Forest”. A huge night for Black Metal fans in Camden.
