Australian metalcore quartet Reliqa announce their second album, High Risk Thoughts, set for release on 12th February via Nuclear Blast. The band have also released the album’s opening track, ‘Serum’.
Reliqa state that ‘Serum’ represents a bridge between their past and present sound. They describe the track as “low and menacing with a mechanical edge”, drawing inspiration from Vola, and note that it includes “fun twists and turns”. The band add that ‘Serum’ is the only song from the new record they have consistently played live, and the reception has been “full of energy”.
The band’s debut full-length, Secrets of the Future, released in 2024, has accumulated over four million streams. Since its release, Reliqa have toured nationally with Northlane and Periphery, and performed at Good Things and Life’s A Beach festivals.
High Risk Thoughts is described as an extension of Reliqa‘s sound. Musically, the album is said to draw from bands such as Spiritbox, Northlane, and Bring Me The Horizon. Lyrically, the album focuses on self-acceptance and understanding. The band continue to manage their creative process in-house.
