Following Kami Kehoe‘s recent release ‘PSYCHO’ which saw Kami and her producers Curt Martin and Keith ‘ten4’ Sorrells experiment with more electronic production, she returns with her latest single ‘DIRTY’ via Atlantic Records.
Opting for a fully electronically produced track, her signature rock drum breakdowns take a backseat as she emerges into the alt-pop world. Upbeat production accompanied by contrasting soulful vocals remains however, transforming ‘DIRTY’ into her most seductive single yet.

She continues to share her emotions through an honest and introspective lens, allowing fans to feel and relate to her experiences. Throughout this single, Kami reckons with dark impulses, desire and self-destruction: ‘you don’t see what I see’ is further reflected in the back and forth of the production which bounces between left and right, mirroring ‘a reflection’.
The self-aware lyrics ‘I don’t want to ruin you baby, that the last thing you need’ are accompanied by whispering backing vocals that give the effect of a ‘devil sitting on her shoulder’, convincing her to follow her desires down a self-destructive path.
Kami and her producers have a natural ability to use atmosphere production to create the feeling of being alone in Kami‘s head, tormented by her thoughts. As ‘DIRTY’ progresses, the repetitive instrumental sections build, accompanied by increasing ‘glitching’ effects on Kami‘s vocals as if she’s transforming into ‘the’ villain and deciding to pursue her darkest impulses, guided by that ‘devil on her shoulder’.
