After appearing as a secret feature on Catch Your Breath‘s latest release ‘Gen[inside]’ this week, Kami Kehoe was not holding back and surprise dropped her newest single ‘PSYCHO’, via Atlantic Records, with no warning.
Producers, Curt Martin and Keith Sorrells really ramped up the production on this single, infusing Kami’s signature rock sound with more electronic elements to give it a new burst of life. This explosive track features even heavier breakdowns and new rap-esque verses while maintaining her distinctive emotionally raw choruses, mirroring the back and forth sentiment of anger and sadness.
This release marks the start of a new era, which is already off to a great start! The new refined sound really takes her discography to the next level showing off new vocal strengths and progressing her niche in rock music. If you are a fan of Chase Atlantic, I highly recommend checking out ‘PSYCHO’ which blends metal, hip-hop and RnB influences.
Following on from her previous single ‘HEARTLESS’ which was a vulnerable ballad, this short 2 minute song gives us a taste of what to expect from the upcoming album. While her ex may be ‘looking in the rearview’, Kami is sprinting head first into her next hit song.
I was in such an angry state of mind while being in a toxic relationship that kept going in circles. Once I cut things off, it still felt like it would never end. They kept reaching out, getting in my head, and showing up places to try to pull me back in. At that point, I had to face the fact that they never loved me, they just wanted to control me. Writing “PSYCHO” was how I made sense of it all.
