Funeral For A Friend ft The Blackout, Casey, Kill The Lights At Leeds O2 Academy, July 2025

Funeral For A Friend are out celebrating with friends tonight for a two-day all-Welsh Line-up and set to perform ‘Hours’ in its full entirety. Originally ment the show was meant to be outside at Millennium Square, Leeds, but was shifted over to the O2 Academy Leeds.

Kill The Lights

Metal/Alternative Indie band Kill The Lights were up first. With the unfortunate move and issues, fans hadn’t been given the correct door time, and it was quite a start for the evening, but that didn’t stop Kill The Lights from giving it the full power that they could offer. The almost lightless set really captured the showcase they were giving us tonight.

Casey

Next up on the line-up is the rock band Casey. They Blue-coloured lighting set the mood with every fan singing back every line, and with more fans pouring in, they captured each person with every note played. The short, sweet set consisted mainly of the earlier in the year released album “How To Disappear”. They rarely stopped for even a second and sped through their set quicker than they were expecting to, but teasing the audience and interacting with them perfectly!

The Blackout

Merthyr Tydfil’s Rock Band The Blackout have returned. With the very much now packed out O2 Academy, you can kinda see the two main bands many people have come down to see today. For Many of the fans tonight, this is the first time seeing The Blackout since their break-up and reunion show last year. Not a single person wasn’t moving in some sort of way. The energy these 6 guys bring to the stage isn’t just about the music, but the memories they gave to all of their fans, with Sean Smith’s beaming smile, they completely know what the crowd wants is the classic’s and that’s what we are going to get served with a side of 100% pure TBO Banter. It’s a treat to see them live, and for many fans, they will be waking up a little more sore tomorrow from one hell of a party.

Funeral For A Friend

Our Final Welsh Headliners of the evening are Post-Hardcore band Funeral For A Friend performing the album “Hours” in its full glory. Many of tonight’s fans grew up with this album on repeat and have come out for the memories, with the crowd hyped completely up from The Blackout set from earlier, on the full force of Funeral For A Friend is driving through for the crowd. Performing an album in full can be a risk, but they absolutely smashed it and didn’t leave one person singing along. The fullness of the crowd could be felt from wherever you stood. Tonight was special in many, many ways, and Funeral For A Friend brought the showcase of Welsh talent to the north today!
