Dead Posey – The Underworld – 16/10/2025

The Underworld was in for an evening full of Alternative Rock with each band showcasing their own take on the genre.

Hell Hotel opened the show with the energy of a well-seasoned band, they were enthusiastic throughout, serenading the crowd with their emo anthems which had Demi Jay and Tom Maxfield’s voices perfectly contrasting between soulful vocals and screams. The crowd was tough to start with but appeared to be enjoying their set towards the end. They did an amazing job of hyping everyone up whilst performing tracks like ‘sweetness’ and ‘all that remains’ before finishing off their set with their latest release ‘promises’ which appeared to be a fan-favourite as Tom leapt from the stage to finish his guitar solo in the centre of the pit.

Next up was The Cruel Knives who continued to mount the energy across their set. Their music featured funky basslines by Rob Ellershaw, well-placed growls as well as smoother vocals from singer Tom Harris, enticing guitar solos from Sid Glover and booming drums from Al Junior. The crowd enjoyed their set so much that when they announced they only had 2 songs left, the crowd chanted “make it three” which prompted the band to give us an extended outro, making their performance even more exciting and memorable, building the excitement further in anticipation for Dead Posey. Unreleased song ‘Shotgun to the Head’ was a hit as I heard people asking the band when it would be released at the end of their set.

A projected countdown started before popular black and white movie scenes were projected onto the wall and a cloud of smoke appeared before Tony Fagenson began a guitar solo, later being joined on stage by Danyelle Souza making her appearance through the smoke. She was met with a roar from the crowd before leading into ‘Sorry I’m not dead’. From the get-go, Danyelle had insane stage presence and spent the remainder of the show interacting with as many fans as possible throughout the show as she crawled around, singing into fan’s faces and holding hands. They were so deserving of a much bigger crowd with the amount of effort they put into the show, making it a performance to remember for everyone in attendance.

Dead Posey played the majority of their debut album ‘Are You In a Cult?’, released in October last year as well as throwing in ‘Parasite’ and ‘Holy Roller’ from their 2020 ‘Malfunction’ EP. They had a high energy, upbeat set which had everyone headbanging along as they enjoyed the show. All whilst Danyelle made each person in attendance feel special, the artist to fan connection was unparalleled. The funky heavy beats and bold mysterious vocals were on point. A few standout songs for me were ‘She Went Bad’, ‘Blue Monday’ and ‘Welcome to the Nightmare’ which is a commentary on the current state of the United States. The end of the show finished off with Danyelle helping female fans up onto the stage to crowd surf and everyone seemed to be having a riot of a time! It was a standout show for me, perfect for getting into the spooky Halloween spirit! I highly recommend going to one of their shows, you won’t regret it!
