SPRINTS Share Cover Of Le Tigre’s ‘Deceptacon’ Out Now On City Slang And Sub Pop.

On 27th of January 2026, Irish garage punk rockers SPRINTS released a cover single ‘Deceptacon’  originally by Le Tigre, which follows on from the release of their second studio album All That Is Over in September 2025. The Le Tigre original version of ‘Deceptacon’ was first released in 1999 as part of their self-titled debut album, What started off as a bit of an underground hidden treasure became a somewhat defining track for the New York art-punk group, with the track going on to be used in countless movies and commercials throughout the years.

Given how cutting edge the original release of ‘Deceptacon’ was, with an absolutely unforgettable riff that remains a favourite with guitarists around the globe; we’re so excited to see just how well the SPRINTS release measures up. Hailing from Dublin, SPRINTS have been a band to keep an eye on for a few years now, being named as a “band to watch” by independent music blog Stereogum back in 2023. On ‘Deceptacon’, leadwoman Karla Chubb shared “I’m not sure there’s a womxn in the world who plays guitar that hasn’t been inspired by Kathleen Hanna. ‘Deceptacon” is a dance-punk classic, a constant in the tour van, and a cover we used to throw into festival sets for fun. What better way to mark our return to the States and honour our love of US Punk than to release our little rendition of ‘Deceptacon’.”
