Bleed From Within Brought The Dying Sun To Norwich!

Last night, Tuesday 10th March, Bleed From Within brought utterly chaotic energy with their The Dying Sun Tour to Epic Studios, Norwich.

First up on stage were the Danish death metal outfit BAEST. Straight from the beginning of their warm-up set their whole energy was super chaotic and fun, accompanied by some ambitiously visceral screams and roars that had everyone in the crowd going absolutely nuts. A lucky little kid sitting on the shoulders of their accompanying adult even got given a guitar pick and a wristband by the guitarist. The band played four powerful songs; ‘Colossus’, ‘Meathook Massacre’, ‘Necro Sapiens’ and ‘Stormbringer’ which got every single person in the crowd hyped and ready for the next band and the rest of the night.

The second band to hit the stage were the Missouri death metal band Disembodied Tyrant. They also brought an incredible fury from the get go, getting everyone head banging and mosh pitting. Disembodied Tyrant played eight songs on their set; ‘Death Empress’, ‘Malphasian’, ‘The Poetic Edda’, ‘Aberrant Waltz’, ‘Crow Black Sky’, ‘Winter’, ‘8.6 Blackout’ and ‘Omenkiller’. These guys really did not come to play around as the vocalist jumped in to join the mosh pit with his microphone stand, before getting lost in it all as he was engulfed by all the moshers and crowd surfers.

The third and final band to hit the stage were obviously the highly anticipated headliners from Glasgow, Bleed From Within. As expected they were very well welcomed by everyone with big cheering screams and clapping. The band didn’t play any games as they set an atmosphere of controlled anarchy from the second they came on stage. Bleed From Within started their set with ‘Zenith’ which got the whole room super stoked for the song and the rest of the set that was to follow it.

The band played a compilation of all their most popular and well known songs, including; ‘Violent Nature’, ‘A Hope In Hell’, ‘God Complex’ (which brought Simon from Baest on stage for guest vocals), and ‘I Am Damnation’. This selected list of hits doesn’t really do the comprehensive setlist justice, as Bleed From Within played fourteen songs overall. Scott Kennedy (Vocalist) kept pointing and smiling at the fans and being super interactive, which went down well in getting the crowd even more hyped than what they already were. Scott also shared how happy he and the rest of the band were to be back in Norwich, as this was their third time back in the city – the last two visits were back in 2011 at the Norwich Arts Centre and in 2023 at the University of East Anglia’s LCR.

The entire set hit hard, with the energy and adrenaline never letting up as the mosh pit kept going throughout (with there being some cheeky crowd surfers too!). The fans lucky enough to be at the barricade got extra rowdy when Scott jumped into the photo pit to say a personal hello to the jumping and head banging front row; it was great to see the level of interaction the whole band wanted to have with their fans and their appreciation for how the room matched their energy throughout the whole show.

I had an absolute blast at this show and cannot wait to see Bleed From Within again. Unfortunately, they are coming to the end of this current tour with only a couple of dates left in the UK, but hopefully they’ll come back to Norwich soon for another round of relentless metalcore.
