This year’s Inferno Festival is almost upon us, and it’s shaping up to be a very special one! Bringing a stacked line-up with artists such as Mayhem, Enslaved, Deicide, Cult of Luna and Old Man’s Child among others, this edition marks their 25th anniversary. A huge feat for an extreme music festival!
As we get ready for 4 days of heavy music, we decided to look past the established acts and focus on new, emerging bands. Here are some of the names we are looking forward to seeing live at this year’s edition.
MYR
Based in Oslo and formed by a Polish and Norwegian duo, Myr’s debut album “Helvegen” came out last year, but it clearly doesn’t sound like a debut album. Inspired by both the Scandinavian black metal scene and Blackened Polish death metal, the album has an incredible production: strings, saxophone, piano, and of course, a good amount of blast beats, brutal riffs and growls.
If you’re a fan of Bathory, Satyricon and Behemoth, you’ll definitely enjoy this!
Feversea
Also hailing from Oslo, Feversea was formed in 2020 and also released their debut album “Man Under Erasure” last year. Led by vocalist Ada Lønne Emberland, the group brings a more modern approach to Black Metal, mixing elements of Shoegaze, Doom and Post Metal, creating a unique sound that is serene and brutal at the same time.
For fans of Messa, Alcest and Cult of Luna.
Angell
Angell is a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Angell Solberg Tveitan, founded in 2025 and with one EP released last year that brings furious growling vocals and progressive yet raw black metal. A really impressive debut.
On a side note, Angell is the son of the legendary Ihsahn (Emperor) and nephew of Einar Solberg (Leprous). It must run in the family.
For fans of Ihsahn, Emperor, Opeth.
Hevn III
Picture this: you’re walking around an old record store and you find an old cassete tape with no labels. You give it a try and it sounds like a homemade recording of a 90’s black metal band.
This is exactly what Hevn III sounds and it’s glorious! It’s raw, traditional Norwegian Black Metal with tremolo picking and blast beats, drawing inspiration from William Blake, Nietzsche and Alesteir Crowley.
For fans of Mayhem and early Darkthrone.
Vígljós
If you like your Black Metal with bees, I have some good news.
Hailing from Switzerland, Vígljós is not your traditional satanic-looking Black Metal band. Instead, they focus on medieval apiculture, hence, the incredible outfit. Formed in 2023, the band already have two albums (or shall we say Tomes) in their catalogue, both highly rated by fans.
For fans of Spectral Wound, Darkthrone and Batushka.
Gloombound
If you’re into depressing Funeral Doom Metal, this will be a great addition to your playlist. Formed in 2022 in Oslo, Gloombound released their first full album “Dreaming Delusion” last year. It’s a very atmospheric release that blends thunderous growls with slow, ethereal passages that reverbs through time.
For fans of Blood Incantation and Dream Unending.
Inferno Festival takes place during Easter, between the 2-5 of April in Oslo, Norway.
Tickets are available on their website.
