The Disney 8-episode series is an adaptation of the 1988 book “Rivals” written by Jilly Cooper. Directed by Elliot Hegarty, featuring a huge cast of famous actors such as David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Victoria Smurfit, Alex Hassell, Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, Emily Atack, and Danny Dyer.
Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant) recruits renowned Journalist Declan O’Hara (Turner) and American producer Cameron Cook (Williams) for his company Corinium. Throughout the series we are treated to heavy competitions and strong sneaky spying.
With pressure to deliver a new show and new ideas better than the competition out there. The cut-throat tv industry is full of latest drama, interviews and a lot of sex. Sleeping and black mailing your way to the top is one way to go! You find multiple rivals and friendships forming throughout the series with enough surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The series set-up has been looked into carefully and Fans of Classic cars there is a beautiful selection. Rivals fans will also be left looking up the finer classic details of the 1980’s as well.
Personally I found the series at the start to be a little slow but needed to fill in the storyline that comes later on in the series. The Show full of heavy sex scenes at times occasionally needed to fulfil the story other times could have been removed. Towards the end of the series you get drawn in to wanting to finish the drama to see what happens next and who is scamming whom. This series is for an over 18 audience as some subject matters won’t be suitable for all viewers.
